It gives vastly superior performance than the lessor Gen 2 MS (Mil-Spec) or Gen 2 ST (Standard) image tubes. The performance is very close to Gen 3, however the image tube life is usually quite a bit shorter than a Generation 3 image tube so when available in a similar price range we recommend going with the Gen 3 unit.
