Title: Great value, excellent quality
I am really impressed with the picture and performance of this little unit. Compared the picture to my Armasight 640 LR 100mm clip-on and of course the picture isn't quite as smooth (640 vs 384 resolution) which I was expecting. Plus, the lens is 1/4 the size of the 100mm so may be not such a fair comparison. That being said, I am impressed with picture quality and how well the contrast is in this scope. The whites are super bright and the blacks are super dark so the picture just "pops" and is very nice. Not sure how they do it. I actually like the picture better than on my Armasight! The FOV is larger which helps (expected being a much smaller objective lens) so scanning is a breeze. I have tried adjusting the brightness, contrast, smart scene, etc., on my Armasight to try to match the contrast/brightness of this scope and I can't get it to look as good. My only regret? Not getting the 640 version for the clearer resolution, but then again, the 640 is like, $3,000 more and you can't get a 25mm but can get a 35mm. Kudos to AGM for a great product. Would definitely buy again. In fact, at this price, I might have to opt for getting another one!
One thing that is not mentioned anywhere in the literature is that when you choose "white" for the reticle color, in the "White Hot" palette, you get a black reticle, when placed on a black object, it changes to bright white but when you place it on a white object, the reticle becomes black so there is no losing your reticle when panning different shades of objects. When using in the "Black Hot" palette, you get a white reticle, and it changes from white to black depending on the color of the target. The reticle doesn't do this if you choose a different reticle color, only on "white" reticle. It also behaves this way on ALL of the color palettes. Not sure if this is by design or just a fluke, but if it was by design, I think this one fact ought to be brought up somewhere in the literature because it is VERY helpful when scanning and highlighting various black and white objects. The reticle actually changes from white to black automatically depending on what color the target is so isn't "lost" in the background. Sweet!!!! Other scopes I have if you are using the white reticle and pan a white object, you can't see the reticle and same with using a black reticle. But the Rattler changes with the environment. Super helpful. Way to go AGM. You should take credit and point out this one achievement!
